Hello everyone!
We are a bunch of enthusiastic Year 1 learners from Waikanae School which is on the sunny Kapiti Coast. We have been studying the Life Cycle of a butterfly and just watched our chrysalis hatch! How exciting!
After reading "I am not a worm" some of us felt a bit sad that the caterpillar had been 'slurped'!
We decided to design our own beautiful butterflies and incorporated a bit of maths using symmetry.

I love your photos! A friend of mine has been helping butterflies to grow too. She managed to video the magic moment when a caterpillar turns into a chrysalis. I've put a link to the videos on the "I am not a worm" page. You'll see it right down the bottom. I think you'll really like it!
