Introducing ourselves

Hi there everyone we are Waitawheta Class from Waikino School.  You can see our class blog here.

This us as a pizza!!! The cushions are our topping....we may be slightly crazy but we are hoping you guys are having as much fun as we are!

We want to thank B4 class for sharing their ending comparisons, it really got us thinking about why we like certain stories.  We noticed that the picture that you shared showing the ending of the Gavin Bishop retelling had very similar illustrations to a story that we had read called Bird Battle from the Counting Stars collection of stories.

We are really looking closely at how Gavin Bishop creates his illustrations and uses them to add to the feelings that the story creates.  Many of us did not like this pictures and felt scared and a bit sad by it.  We had the same feeling when we looked at the picture and read the ending of Chicken Licken that you shared with us.

  1. Oh my gosh, you guys look so cool as a pizza! What a cool idea! You must enjoy each other’s company, lucky you.
Isn’t it interesting how Gavin Bishop conveys so much in his pictures? It is wonderful that you are noticing how the illustrations make you feel and what they might add to the story.
Thanks for joining us! I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with next.

  2. Thank you Belinda for your reply. We have found the illustrations to be really interesting. We have been talking a lot about feelings and putting colours together with those. We noticed that Gavin Bishop uses colours to convey a feeling in his books. We have been doing some painting today with this in mind and we look forward to sharing them with you all.
