K6 Kids Say: Thank You NZ Read Aloud!

For our final task, we read 'Fifty Five Feathers' and compared it to 'A Booming in the Night.' There are lots of connections between the two stories (we won't give too much away) and we noticed that Pukeko was the main character in both stories. We also noticed that in both stories he is trying to be a helpful friend to other animals. We brainstormed some ideas about how we can be great friends to others, we each wrote our ideas in a feather and put them all together to make a 'Friendship Korowai' (cloak) for our room.

Thank you from K6 Kids for the inspiration and ideas!

  1. Wow! Another great idea that I can't wait to share with my class. Tui also read 'Fifty Five Feathers' and we completed a story map for that book and 'A Booming in the Night'. Your friendship korowai is a great idea. I agree that friendship is a theme in both of these books. Perhaps we will make a friendship korowai in Term 4.
